Sources and methodology

About the data

SanaHolidayNaUlit is a lightweight Philippine holiday reference built for fast countdowns, current-year holiday lookup, and long-weekend planning.

Where dates come from

Holiday dates are based on the current proclamation-year dataset used by the site. When a safe API base is configured at build time, the site can fetch holiday data from the configured backend. When no production-safe API is available, the static build falls back to bundled official holiday data.

The public footer links to the Official Gazette nationwide holidays page so users can check the primary government reference. Per-holiday proclamation notes are intentionally deferred for now; this page carries the source methodology instead of repeating source blocks on every holiday page.

Timezone handling

Dates and countdowns are interpreted in Philippine Standard Time, Asia/Manila (UTC+8). Holiday dates are civil dates in the Philippines, so a holiday starts at 00:00 Philippine time even if a visitor is viewing the site from another timezone.

Holiday labels

Regular Regular holiday
Special Special non-working holiday
Special working Special working holiday

Status labels describe whether a date is official, pending, or still to be announced in the dataset. Special working holidays are shown for reference but are excluded from long-weekend calculations because they are not treated as days off by default.
