Quick facts
Meaning and traditions
Christmas Eve, or Bisperas ng Pasko, is one of the most anticipated dates in Filipino family life. It is the day of final preparations before Christmas Day, often filled with cooking, gift wrapping, travel, reunions, and the last stretch of Simbang Gabi or Misa de Gallo traditions.
The emotional center is Noche Buena, the late-night family meal that welcomes Christmas. As a special holiday, Christmas Eve is also a key planning date because it often combines with Christmas Day, Rizal Day, and year-end leave for a longer December break.
Long-weekend note
This holiday creates a 4-day weekend from December 24-27, 2026.
No extra leave day is needed for this break.
